On Saturday, February 28, 2026, runners of all levels will lace up for one of Mount Pleasant’s most anticipated athletic events — the Sweetgrass Half Marathon & 10K, taking place from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the Park West Recreation Complex.
Now in its sixth year, this popular race continues to grow as a celebration of fitness, community, and Lowcountry scenery.
Race Options & Course
Participants can choose between:
- 🏃 Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 🏃 10K (6.2 miles)
Both courses offer flat, scenic routes through Carolina Park, making this an excellent race for seasoned runners chasing a personal best and first-time participants looking for a well-supported and enjoyable experience.
🐾 A Fan Favorite Returns
One of the most anticipated moments of the day happens at 11:00 AM with the return of the “Running of the Weenies” dachshund race — a crowd favorite that adds family-friendly fun and a little humor to race day.
Why Events Like This Matter
The Sweetgrass Half Marathon & 10K is more than a race. Events like this:
- Encourage healthy lifestyles
- Bring neighbors together
- Support volunteers, vendors, and local businesses
- Showcase Mount Pleasant as an active, welcoming community
From runners and spectators to volunteers and sponsors, this event reflects the energy and spirit that make Mount Pleasant a great place to live.
